Mr. Blevins graduated with a B. S. degree in Science Education in 1986
from Bluefield College and a M. Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction
with a focus on Instructional Technology from Virginia Commonwealth
University. He is currently working on a doctorate from Virginia Tech
in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
Before coming to Accotink Alternative, Mr. Blevins worked for Caroline
County Public Schools as Director of Instruction and more recently as
Division Director of Testing. He has worked for the Virginia Department
of Education as a field specialist serving 17 school divisions in region
three of Virginia. His focus was on curriculum alignment, implementation
of the standards of learning, and the integration of technology. Mr.
Blevins has taught chemistry, physics, and earth/space science at the
secondary level. He has taught physical science and life science at
the middle school level. Mr. Blevins also taught elementary school while
working as the coordinator of media and technology. Mr. Blevins has
been in the field of education for the past 21 years serving as a teacher
and administrator.
Mr. Blevins has a Virginia teaching license with endorsements in General
Science II, Chemistry, Earth/Space Science and K-12 Library Media.
