Mrs. Winton received her B.A. in Sociology with an English minor from the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating summa cum laude. She is currently a graduate student in the Special Education (ED/LD) program at ODU. She has worked in Child Protective Services where her duties included family counseling, adoption and foster care. Janet provided job placement and job development services for refugees, managed a program of on-campus jobs at a high school for student mothers and was a vocational specialist for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. Mrs. Winton also worked as Director of Counseling at a housing counseling agency that sought to prevent foreclosures. Mrs. Winton is licensed in Virginia in English and in Special Education.
She has lived in Virginia for four years with her husband and daughter.
